In January 2018 HM Treasury announced the Rent Recognition Challenge which is to encourage innovation that facilitates the recognition of rental payments on a tenant’s credit history. CreditLadder won through to the final stage where they were announced as the biggest winner.

Lord Bird the CEO of The Big Issue has also seen his Credit Worthiness Assessment Bill, progress through The House of Lords and is due to be read in The House of Commons later in 2019. The aim of this bill is to ensure lenders recognise regular rent payments when assessing credit applications.

CreditLadder regularly represents as a fintech there to champion better deals for consumers with regular attendance in Parliament working with the All Parliamentary Political Group (APPG). CreditLadder also works closely with The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in terms of innovation in the financial sector.

In 2022 Liz Truss MP announced that she wants to allow rent payments to form part of a credit check to get more young people on the housing ladder by proving they can afford a mortgage.
